The conflict in Ethiopia has caused tremendous amount of internal displacement, health crisis, and unmatched chaos. In most cases innocent citizens have become victims due to the consequences of conflict and the war. The internally displaced people often move to areas where it is difficult to deliver humanitarian assistance and as a result, these people are among the most vulnerable in the world.
According to UNHCR | Africa, since the violence began in early-November 2020, refugees have been arriving at remote border points that take hours to reach from the nearest towns in Sudan. Many are women and children. Most left with barely any belongings and arrived exhausted from walking long distances over harsh terrain.
With no end in sight to the conflict, the steady stream of daily arrivals is overwhelming the current capacity to provide aid.
We, the Addis Ababa Diaspora Association, have a moral responsibility to help coordinate and facilitate the most pressing needs for the displaced and impacted citizens of Ethiopia. In particular, we wanted to focus the support that can be coordinated with us around the chronic shortage of medical and supply needs. Hence, we call upon every diaspora located outside of the country to consider to be a part of this life saving cause.
Here are ways to support the victims:
And remember, we are a reflection of many choices and the choice we make to support our people would show our humanity and help alleviate the pain from our people
